"Two Truth"
H.E. Garchen Rinpoche will be visiting Vancouver March 18th,2009.

Conventionally, we hold the relative truth as absolute. Thus holding onto the �self� as the only truth and cause suffering to recur again and again. This is the cause of our seemingly endless rebirths in the six realms. To escape from this cyclic phenomena we need to understand and then ultimately realize through practice the ultimate truth. Stated differently, the two truths doctrine holds that truth exists in conventional and ultimate forms, and that both forms are co-existent. Other schools, such as Dzogchen hold that the two truths doctrine are ultimately resolved into nonduality as a lived experience and are non-different. Garchen Rinpoche will undoubtly give us a teaching on this subject based on his own personal experiential realization. There are many great masters in the world but Garchen Rinpoche is one whose teachings are always based on his own realization through practice. This is because he was in jail for 20 years being locked together with his root master, Khenpo Munsel. He was not allowed any religious practices or read any material relating to Dharma, however, his root master taught him secretly and he would practice constantly in his mind yet externally he would be tending pigs and performing other chores. Through this grueling practice for 20 years, he gained the direct experience of the ultimate truth. Though his time at Amitabha Foundation is short, the message that he will transmit will always be very precious.
