明光法師  簡介

明光法師： 俗名陳志明，

1952年出生於台北縣樹林鎮，中興大學統計系畢業、交通大學管理科學研究所碩士。初、高中時常到海明寺讀書，悟明長老為啟蒙師父。

1978年依止聖雄法師於大雄精舍剃度出家。

1980年至1982年於十方叢林書院高研班參學。

1983年擔任大雄精舍住持，從十方叢林書院接續推廣佛學社教幼童班，舉辦兒童福慧夏令營，首開兒童學佛之風氣。

1983年代表中國佛教會青年訪問團前往韓國參加韓國佛教青年大會。

1985年9月參加中國童子軍輔導木章訓練。

1985年12月跟隨悟明長老、成一長老參加中華民國宗教訪問團前往美國交流、訪問。

1989年應邀到美國紐約莊嚴寺主持兒童夏令營。

1990年成立佛教第一支童子軍於大雄精舍。

1990年擔任美國紐約大覺寺方丈。

1991年底當選第二屆國民大會代表（中國國民黨不分區）。

1993年擔任美國紐約莊嚴寺方丈。

1995年起接任台中中天寺方丈。

1998年遞補擔任第三屆國民大會代表，任職二年。

1999年接任美國佛教會會長。

2000年起擔任美國加州橙縣護國寺住持。

2002年悟明長老傳法明光法師（臨濟第48代），並晉山為海明寺住持。

2003年顯明長老傳法明光法師（天台第46代）。

2005年當選台北市佛教會第十三屆理事長。

2007年擔任澳洲墨爾本如意寺住持、中華民國童軍總會宗教團體童軍推展委員會主任委員。

2009年蟬聯台北市佛教會第十四屆理事長。

2010年當選中國佛教會副理事長。

目前還擔任：台北市觀音禪院住持、日月潭玄奘寺住持、台北市大慈寺副住持、台中市佛教會理事、世界佛教僧伽會弘法委員會主任委員、世界佛教徒友誼會社會經濟發展委員會主席、臺北市童軍會理事。

CHEN CHIH MING （Faimly Name）

Born at Shulin, New Taipei City, Taiwan R O C in 1952.

Academic background: Bachelor degree in statistics from National Chung Hsing University. Master degree in management science from Jiao Tong University.

Buddhist background: Frequented Hai Ming Monastery in student days, and inspired by Master Wu Ming.

1978  Ordained by Ven. Sheng Hsiung at Da Hsiung Vihara in 1978. Dharma name Ming Kuang

1980 – 1981  Studied at Shi-fang-ch’an-lin Institute.

1983  Appointed as the abbot of Da Hsiung Vihara. Founded Buddhist class and summer camp for children.

1983  Attended the young Buddhists conference of Korea as the youth delegate of the Buddhist Association of the ROC.

1985  Took the scouts counselor wood badge training of the ROC in September. Attended Master Wu Ming and Master Cheng Yi of the ROC Religionists Goodwill Mission to visit the United States in December.

1989  Presided over the children’s summer camp of Chuang Yen Monastery in New York, the USA.

1990  Established the scouts group at Da Hsiung Vihara, the first of its kind in Buddhist circle. Appointed as the abbot of Da Chueh Temple in New York, the USA.

1992 - 1998  Appointed as member of the 2^nd National Assembly.

1993  Appointed as the abbot of Chuang Yen Monastery in New York, the USA.

1995  Appointed as the abbot of Zhong Tian Monastery in Taichung.

1999  Appointed as the president of the Buddhist Association of the United States.

1998-200  Appointed as member of the 3^rd National Assembly.

2000  Appointed as the abbot of Fu Guo Monastery in Orange county, California, the USA.

2002  Accredited as the 48^th generation of Lin Ji Ch’an School by Master Wu Ming. Appointed as the abbot of Hai Ming Monastery.

2003  Accredited as the 46^th generation of Tien Taiian School by Master Xian Ming.

2005  Elected as the 13^th president of the Buddhist Association of Taipei City.

2007  Appointed as the abbot of Ru Yi Monastery in Melbourne, Australia.

Director of Religious Groups Promotion Committee of the Scouts Association of the ROC.

2009  Re-elected as the 14^th president of the Buddhist Association of Taipei City.

2010  Elected as the vice president of the Buddhist Association of the ROC.
